From family with ancestors active in the Civil War. Design faintly visible on both sides of blade. Has possibly French writing on spine of blade. Grip shows age. Guard has some discoloring. Blade has minor surface rust in a couple locations. Blade measures 30 inches. Overall length 35 1/2 inches.

Clauberg Model 1850 Civil War Era Sword w/Scabbard for sale

Clauberg Model 1850 Civil War Era Sword w/Scabbard

Marked W Clauberg Solingen with knight symbol on one side. Both sides of blade still have design-work visible. Left side has visible flag - crossed musket and spear and appears to be marked US with draperies - filigree and stars. Right side has flag - drapes with eagle center under E Pluribus Unum. Blade has great patina with some rust in spots. Guard has some discoloring - possible scorch mark. Handle has wear. See pictures. Hard to photograph blade design due to glare. Scabbard well traveled but with remarkably little denting. Blade measures 32 inches long. Overall length just under 38 inches. Again - from family with ancestors who were known to participate in the Civil War. Great piece of history.

Brass double eagle hilt and guard with bone grip. Has separation between bone and brass (see pictures). Faintly marked near hilt but not legible. Blade in great overall condition with patina. Blade measures just over 30 inches with a 16 1/2 inch blood groove. Overall length 35 inches. Comes with scabbard - has multiple dents. Appears to be original to sword but uncertain. Potential sleeper. From family that has long history of military involvement in eastern United States.

4 1/2 inch blade. 9 inches overall. Wood handle with lanyard hole. Brass hilt. Engraved scripted signature Hand Made by James B Lile. Note: This knife was made by Lile himself - not by the later shop/knifesmiths that make things in his name. Knives made by Lile are some of the most sought after in the world. Circa 1970s. Passed down through generations from original owner who knew James when they lived in Arkansas in 1970s per Estate. Handle solid. Some discoloring to brass and minor spotting to blade. Should clean up well. Rare early Lile.
